I recently downloaded a trial version of Photoshop Elements 7 (which I plan to buy ASAP), and have been using it to draw 2 dimensional, sort of geometric designs. They sort of look like quilt patterns, and my aunt, who is some sort of sewing guru, is going to hopefully be teaching me how to quilt. I think I'll start with something small and simple, like a pillow. I'll be using my own designs, which is cool.

So, I've been enjoying using PS Elements 7, though I haven't gotten used to it yet. I haven't figured out a good way to draw curved lines that I could use for drawing Celtic knots. I love how when I draw straight lines, it snaps to the grid, and I was hoping I could do something similar to draw curved lines.

I was also wondering if there was some sort of kaleidoscope filter plugin thing I could download. ( I remember an old program I used to have had one. I think it was Paintshop Pro 7 or maybe 8). And if someone were to link me to one, I wouldn't know how to install and use it, so I would need help with that too.

So if anyone reading this (if anyone actuallly does) can help me, I would really appreciate it. ^_^

Went to Washington DC last week with my mom.  Went to the zoo on Monday and Thursday, click here for photos of pandas, orangutans, elephants, etc, went on a tour of the monuments, museums, and memorials on Tuesday, went and took pictures of the capitol building, went to the American Indian Museum (had a pulled buffalo sandwich!) and the Museum of American History (saw Abe Lincolns top hat, the Star Spangled Banner, and a whole bunch of other neat stuff.

Thinking to going back to DC this summer to see Harry Potter at the Uptown Theater! (their single movie screen is two stories high!)  That's really just an excuse to go back to DC though, I love that city! Plus, I didn't get to go to Cafe Saint Ex when I was there on spring break, and dammnit I want those grits!!  Their chocolate sour cream cake is really good too.  I hope my cousin has is own apartment by then, so I can stay with him.  Hotel rooms are expensive. :P  I'm probably going to go with my other cousin.  I seriously need to get on the ball and talk to them about this...

robarenasets.110mb.com/ -This is my brother's website, that I designed and maintain.  He's a set designer/builder.  It's got his resume, contact information, and a portfolio of photos of the sets he's done.

I'm actually going to see the show/musical (Me and My Girl) at Somerville High School (NJ) with my family tonight.  He designed and built most of the set, and worked with the set crew students.  It's going to be amazing!  I'll definitely post some pictures of the set when I can.

He also built the set for Greek Holiday, which is at the Abingdon Theater, which is off-Broadway.  Going to see that next week.  My spring break is going to be so busy this year! ^_^

Peter S Beagle. Okay, so I've actually only read one of his books so far,The Last Unicorn, but I absolutely love it!! I love the movie version too. And the soundtrack. I'm kind of obsessed at the moment. The book and the movie is so....eloquent. I think that's a good word. The imagery is absolutely beautiful. And I've loved the soundtrack since I was a kid. I remember hearing the song "The Last Unicorn" on the radio occasionally....that was a looong time ago.

So, since Mr. Beagle is such an amazing writer and I've only read one of his books, I decided to buy another one, We Never Talk About My Brother. It's a collection of short stories, so I'm glad I'll be able to read it during school. I'd like to read some more of his novels, but I'd like to wait for them until summer, when I'm not so busy with school work.

Not only do I want to read more of his works, but I want to support him, since he's continually writing new stories. So, if you're looking for some good fantasy to read, try some of Peter S Beagle's works.

Going to Washington DC with my mom for spring break.  Definitely going to the zoo, the Native American museum, (whatever it's called), possibly on some sort of tour of the White House...not sure what else to do.  Anyone know have any sight seeing ideas, or know of any good places to eat in DC?  I remember last year when I was in DC, my cousin and I has breakfast at this little sort of cafe kind of place, and they had the best grits I had ever tasted.  Well actually, they were the first grits I had ever tasted.  I only had grits once since then, and they were nothing compared to what I had at that tiny little restaurant.  Wish I knew of a good place to get grits in Central New Jersey

No one actually reads this, but I thought I'd post this anyway. I have a twitter account. twitter.com/Dweezal

Not sure what I should do with it yet.  I guess when I finally add new photos to my deviantart account, I'll post links to them there, and when I update this journal I'll post a link...Otherwise, I don't think I'll use it that much.  :P

Wii!
My brother and I bought our mom a Nintendo Wii for her 50th birthday. Had to buy it from the Amazon Marketplace, as they were of course out of stock. Unfortunately, my mom's birthday isn't until August, so we have to wait two months to give it to her. XD So now it's just sitting under my bed. Why did I have to buy it so damn early? XD

I just joined a site called Redbubble.  I have several prints up for sale their, and I find this website much easier to use that Deviantart's print service, which I also use.  (My username on Deviantart is Dweezal, if anyone is interested)  On this website, you choose a percentage to mark up your prices, instead of manually pricing all of the different print sizes.  I found this to be very convenient, although Deviatart's print service has more products available.  I don't know anything about the quality of this websites products though.  If you have used this website before, and can give me any advice or anything, feel free to comment.  And in case anyone is interested in looking at my products, here is a link: http://www.redbubble.com/people/dweezal

I'm going to a Celtic Festival this month!
"Shawnee on Delaware, PA - Home to many of the Pocono Region’s largest festivals, Shawnee Mountain is pleased to announce the new 2008 Shawnee Celtic Festival to be held Saturday and Sunday, June 28 and 29, 11am to 6pm both days, this summer on the grounds of the popular Monroe County ski area."

I'm not Celtic, but I love Celtic music, dance, and art, especially the knots!! I love drawing Celtic knots, and have trying to learn how to draw them better. I've been using these two books to try to learn:
Celtic Art: The Methods of Construction and A Handbook of Celtic Ornament

I'm really looking forward to this festival.  I had better start saving my money, so I can buy a lot of stuff from the vendors.

So I just found out that there's a new Harvest Moon game coming out for Nintendo DS: Harvest Moon: Island of Happiness  I'm definitely going to get this one, it looks awesome.  I've always loved the Harvest Moon games, mostly because I suck at other kinds of games.  (Basically any game that requires any amount of hand/eye coordination, timing, etc.)    So I mostly stick to tycoon/sim games and puzzles and the like.  I think it's great that you can choose to be a boy or a girl with this one.  I know that other Harvest Moon games have been like that in the past, but never for a game system I've owned.  (At least I don't think so) The game doesn't come out until July 29th, so I have plenty of time to finish Harvest Moon DS, which is also a great game.

My rule with buying video games is to wait until the price drops to $25 or less (and sometimes even $20 or less), but I may have to break my own rule for this game, especially with all the money I received for graduating college (just  a Liberal Arts degree, but whatever)  I'm definitely going to wait until after my trip to Washington D.C. this weekend to preorder it.
